Scale Operator

Purpose / Basic Function:
Responsible for weighing inbound and outbound scrap loads.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for the accuracy of all weighing, purchasing and calculating payment for all purchase material.
• Obtains required information from customers for all transactions, completes required purchasing and shipping documents, and conducts daily reconciliations of cash and unpaid tickets.
• Responsible to balance cash report each day. Count cash at the beginning and end of the day. Notify your supervisor with any discrepancies.
• Log all scrap material and cars shipped out.
• Communicates pricing information and material specifications to customers.
• Reviews all documents to ensure accuracy and Company requirements are met.
• Position requires traveling to other locations at RJ Torching, Inc.

Minimum Requirement and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 2 years' experience in weight or scale operation required.
• Basic math and computer skills necessary.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in customer service experience in a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
• 2 years' experience in cash handling preferred.
• Must have excellent customer service, communications, organizational and time management skills.
• Must have the willingness to go the extra mile learning the scrap metal recycling industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work to work with others and be part of the team.
• Computer experience, including Microsoft Excel and Word and the ability to learn in house systems.
• Scrap knowledge a plus.

Laborer

Job Descriptions:
Scrap metal processor needs general yard Laborer. Will clean, sort, load, and unload scrap iron and other metals. This is vigorous, difficult work, outdoors in all weather conditions. May use a forklift to move scrap metal on site. Workplace safety is dependent on maintaining constant awareness of surroundings.

Job Requirements:

• Must be in excellent physical condition with no limitations--able to perform frequent heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Must have good motor skills
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, snow)
• Good work ethic, must be able to show up on time every work day and be dependable
• Required to wear health and safety equipment as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with forklift

Hours/Days/Schedule:
Will work 40+ hours per week, Monday through Friday.
